Cape Town Film Studios secures major multi-million dollar international film ("FilmContact.com", 26 Aug 2010)
Nico Dekker, CEO of Cape Town Film Studios, South Africa’s largest and newest film studio, announced that the studio has secured the first major 3D action film to be made in Africa, Judge Dredd - this popular comic book figure, initially brought to life on the big screen by Sylvester Stallone, will once again grace the big screen.
Dekker says it is a major breakthrough for the studio and the country to have secured a production of this caliber before the official construction phase of Cape Town Film Studios has been finished. Cape Town Film Studios, which will officially only open its doors in October this year, is the first custom built Hollywood style film studio complex of its kind in Africa.

Production begins at new city film studios ("Cape Times", 26 Aug 2010)
Cape Town Film Studios (CTFS) has signed its first major production deal, valued at R140 million.
Nico Dekker, chief executive officer, said the deal would inject about R175m into the economy because for every rand spent an economic impact factor of 2.5 is accrued.
After years of delays and controversy, construction of the studios started last year.
This week the four sound-stage facility wekcomed its first production. DNA Films, makers of The Beach, Trainspotting and The Last King of Scotland, have chosen Cape Town as production base for the 3D action-film Judge Dredd, based on the comic book figure. Read more...

Vervaardigers van ‘Judge Dredd’ sê ja vir nuwe Kaapse rolprent-ateljee ("Die Burger", 25 Aug 2010)
Nog voor die Cape Town Film Studios (CTFS) in Faure naby Somerset-Wes sy deure amptelik oopgemaak het, is die eerste groot slag geslaan met die verfilming van Judge Dredd wat daar gaan plaasvind.
DNA Films (wat vir onder meer The Beach en Trainspotting verantwoordelik was) gaan meer as $20?miljoen (sowat R146?miljoen) aan die produksie bestee.
